Signal uses cloud services, but all msgs are end-to-end encrypted, providers can’t access content. metadata is a concern, Signal stores almost none, unlike WhatsApp & Telegram.
The OTF funded Signal, but it’s not US gov-controlled. Many governments dislike it because it prevents surveillance.
