There is more of this problem though. Even if it’s popular, using that reference loses its narrative weight. The characters stop being believable individuals and become a cast of social media characters

It’s not really “hurting” anyone, but it is a mess. The reason why  is because brainrot shit like Skibidi Toilet has already been outdated by the time of this release of Gumball. It was mostly trending in 2023. I myself never liked it anyway

I mean, at least South Park (despite not being a fan) handles attempted relevancy in the short term possible as each episode is produced in only six whole days rather than multiple months like Gumball
