What I really appreciate about Mario Kart World's soundtrack is that they essentially treat the music like jazz standards - you get a fantastic opening statement of the theme, and after that they just let their solists rip. Amazing stuff 🥲.

id Software knows how to make a great oldschool shooter, but their change in narrative direction is puzzling.

Doom: The Dark Ages starts out as grimdark medieval Doom, then turns into Quake and now features the Ocarina of Time level inside of Jabu Jabu's belly.

It's interesting to contrast with Avowed as well. I think Avowed shines in it's moment-to-moment gameplay in a unique way with it's kinetic and depthful combat and tasty parkour.

Writing-wise, though, Shivering Isles is able to say a lot more in less words - and with more clarity.

The Oblivion remaster / visual remake is interesting, and fixes the two biggest reasons why I didn't click with it back in 2006: artstyle and gamefeel. The game has a lot more character now!

Shivering Isles remains one of the best expansion packs ever made... Such a treat.

Metroid Prime 4 HYPE! It's looking so great, and just as important: sounding great. Not sure if the original sound team is back, but the main theme shown so far definitely brings to mind Kenji Yamamoto's distinct Metroid sound.
