I would recommend all my October reads, but James by Percival Everett was definitely a standout. Heartbreaking. I’m still thinking about it. Highly recommend. #booksky

The family participated in the WFPS 5km today. I love this event so much. The energy is so great. I’m painfully slow, but managed to finish within seconds of my time last year. My goal is not to get any slower, which I think is a solid middle aged goal. 😊

August’s reads were all solid, but I think my favourite was Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil.

I made a peach butter cake (NYTCooking) for a family dinner. It was lovely. Highly recommend.

The pretty beets made a delicious salad. #foodsky

We had some golden beets in our CSA box. Boiled and diced them for use in salads or as a side dish. They are such a gorgeous shade of yellow. #foodsky

Today is the beginning of a low key vacation week. Starting it off with a delicious breakfast of sourdough waffles. 🩷 #foodsky

Sourdough focaccia. Maybe a bit underbaked. Still too hot to cut into it to see. #foodsky

I started knitting a baby blanket today, for my husband’s cousin. Knitting baby items is the best. 😍 #knitsky

July’s reads were all great, but I I think my fave was Atmosphere. I sobbed during the last bit. Margot’s Got Money Troubles was a close second. #booksky

I saw a fawn during my lunch hour walk today. So tiny! 🩷

The husband is making sous vide steak for supper. I’m not convinced that this is a good use of a steak.

I took a moccasin class at the Manitoba Museum. It was such a good experience. I learnt a lot. I’m pretty happy with my moccasins. 🩷 I’m grateful to the instructor for sharing her skills, experience, and stories.

I started a pair of basic toe up socks on Friday, and this project is bringing me so much joy. The yarn (mystery yarn - label is missing) and pattern seem to be a perfect match. #knitsky #toeupsocks #joy

So, I did something different today! I’m terribly clumsy, but managed not to injure myself. 😂

Beef and broccoli with rice from The Woks of Life. I threw in some carrots, as well. Yummy. Would definitely make again. The 12 yo even had seconds! #foodsky

I took a vacation day and decided to make some sourdough pizza. It took 6 hours 😆. It was pretty tasty. Nice chew with a tasty tang to it. #sourdough #foodsky

I went to the Bead-a-thon at the Manitoba Museum today. What a lovely event. A lovely woman was our table’s “beading buddy”, sharing her skill and knowledge with us. I hope they hold the event again. 🩷 I think beading will become yet another hobby that I want to pursue. I need more free time!

The 12 yo made cookies! Yum!

Harvest lunchbox muffins from NYT Cooking. Loaded with veggies. Smells delicious. The 12 yo wandered over and commented that I was trying to trick her into eating veggies. No trick. Just providing an opportunity. 😁
