@epomm.bsky.social The 2nd EPSRC EPoMM* network meeting has started!

A warm welcome as always by Alex O'Malley to two days of holes.

Understandable. There's still always a place for classical if you can find the right thing though. There's some great piano pieces out there - I was also in orchestras so piano is not so familiar.

90s side scrollers are particularly good for concentrating.

Film soundtracks are the best. John Williams for writing proposals. Danny Elfman for quirky reviews. Ennio Morricone for writing reviews of bad proposals 😂 Thesis chapters work well with game theme music - the writers designed it to make you focus.

I read your reply as "Very Graphic Design" and thought, yes, it certainly is.
timeasun.bsky.social
On authorship, I agree with your other reply: body of work, cite PI; single paper, cite first author.

I'm not sure I've always been that consistent in the past though 🤔

Side note on your side note, I read the quoted text as saying your method doesn't have the drawback of the (alternative) UV-vis method, not that there's any UV-vis in your method.

Me: "I wrote this."

Carbon dioxide: "It sucks. It's utter trash. A child could have done better. Plus your outfit is horrible. Did a cavefish dress you?"

Me, to other guy: "Who is this jerk?"

Other guy, the one who says the punchline: "That's supercritical CO₂."

Agreed, and also on more private social sites like Discord.

And more willing to use video than I ever will be!

On the upside, it is good to know that many of the people met through twitter are here, so the lines of connection aren't completely lost :)
timeasun.bsky.social
I'm sadly less engaged here than twitter for lots of reasons but one of them was definitely the sense of loss - I don't want to go through that again.

I'm also just *tired* so don't have the capacity for building up engagement again.

"Good day Sir, here are today's options. Would you like anisotropic peak broadening, diffuse streaks, superstructure peaks, or twinning?" "Yes, please"

An intricated single-crystal (?) reconstruction of reciprocal space shows main Bragg peaks, streaks crossing them, and satellite peaks arranged in tiny crosses between the main Bragg peaks.

We seek to improve knowledge and develop methods to remediate the problem, to provide safer water to many.

The network Emmanuel pioneered and Victorien is continuing is called the Central and West African Network for Safe Water, CW-ANSWer. It is my hope that we will live up to the name.
timeasun.bsky.social
He was with us long enough to hear of the successful new funding for his Network.

Led by Professor Victorien Dougnon, from the Université d'Abomey-Calavi, this new project will allow us to honour Emmanuel's legacy by addressing the problems of fungal toxins in waters across 8 countries.

You can hear from Emmanuel yourself here, in an interview from 2 years ago.
