ANIMAL CROSSING: THE MOVIE (2006 dir. jōji shimura, japan) its kind of a Toys Movie (the ppl i was watching with pointed out how many moments were excuses to show mechanics from the then-new DS game) but its gentle and easygoing and captures the vibe of the game super well. i liked a it

LABYRINTH (1986 dir. jim henson, usa/uk) story's maybe a little thin but you're being presented with some new gorgeously rendered, insane fantasy imagery every 5 minutes so it's hard to hold that against the movie. jennifer connelly has intense autistic girl swag in this.

BUGONIA (2025 dir. yorgos lanthimos, usa/south korea/ireland) in my brain this is already forming kind of a thematic trilogy with "eddington" and "one battle after another" before it, and of the three movies i think this one's the most on the money, politically speaking.
