Four of my books were banned at the Naval Academy but Mein Kampf and the Bell Curve are still there.

So just to review: racism is ok. Antiracism is not.

This is the entire history of America.

Irony: if Charlie Kirk had been speaking in Chicago, L.A., etc., they'd have swept the rooftops and had tighter security. But Utah? Nah...So, the myth of white innocence, which he believed in, got him killed. Fascinating. My latest piece explores this, below...

The Myth of White Innocence Got Charlie Kirk Killed
If he’d been speaking in Chicago, Los Angeles, or anywhere with lots of people of color, they’d have checked the rooftops

And finally a piece in which I don't mention Kirk at all, but address one of those issues he was particularly obsessed with and hateful about...trans athletes

There’s a Revealing Flaw in the Attack on Trans Athletes
And what the transphobes don’t talk about gives the game away

And another one, offering a theory of the motive behind the killing of Charlie Kirk, which holds that it was only marginally political, and really based more on intense and almost entirely personal passions, disconnected from any larger political project.

There’s a Simpler Explanation Than Politics for the Killing of Charlie Kirk
Although everyone wants to blame the other side, the real reason may be more personal and frankly even more tragic than that

Next is, I think, an important piece about the silos people are in, which keep millions of people from knowing what most of us on the left know about Kirk, and why humility about other people's knowledge base is important.

Many Charlie Kirk Supporters Don’t Realize What He Actually Believed
The scary but true reality of media silos in America

Next is my piece replying to the notion that Kirk was some kind of Socratic intellect whose penchant for debate was genuine, or that debate itself is a positive way to de-escalate political tension. It's not, but I offer an alternative...

Charlie Kirk’s “Debate Me, Bro” Act Wasn’t Politics “the Right Way”
Debate isn’t the answer to political violence. But there might be another, better option.

Next, the first piece I wrote after Charlie Kirk's killing. More to follow, in which I respond to his awfulness directly. But the day it happened, I felt it necessary to say this for both moral and practical reasons.

medium.com/@timjwise/no...
No, Charlie Kirk’s Ideas Don’t Make It OK to Cheer His Murder
Murder is wrong. Period. And it’s not OK to advocate it, celebrate it, or shrug it off with FAFO memes

Then here's my piece rebutting a common right-wing talking point, which they use to downplay the extent of racial inequity in earnings and employment...

medium.com/@timjwise/ed...
Education Doesn’t Close Racial Employment or Earnings Gaps
And no, it’s not because whites and Blacks get degrees in different subjects

Been neglecting to post here lately. But I'm now going to post the essays I've written in the past month in the order I wrote them. Beginning w/this one on how the Labor Department has consistently minimized the extent of racial disparity in unemployment

The Labor Department cloaks the real extent of white advantage in America

When will we learn that toppling other governments almost always makes things worse? Indeed, had we not overthrown the Iranian government in 1953 and installed a vicious dictator, we never would have ended up with the Mullahs we now insist we must topple. Pay attention.

Wow, look at this description of the mayhem in L.A. Man, sure am glad Trump sent in troops! (Oh wait, this isn't re: L.A...it's a description of the white boy riot to protest crackdowns on underage drinking at Washington State University in 1998. Never mind).

"Well, we are all going to die."

Damn, y'all, I've heard some cruel and bizarre statements from politicians in my lifetime, but Sen. Joni Ernst saying this directly to her constituents during a town hall regarding concerns over cuts to Medicaid is an all-timer. Jesus.

We need a one million percent tariff on Afrikaners. No need to import white racists. We've managed to make tens of millions here

This is a good start, but River Road is long. May the spirits of the enslaved rise and burn all the concentration camps that, like Nottaway, downplay their evil. No more wedding receptions. Either confront the sickness of white supremacy or let it all burn.

Here's hoping that karma is contagious

The message from the fire at the Nottoway Slave Labor and Sex Trafficking Camp is simple enough:

If some of y'all keep trying to erase Black history, the ancestors just might burn yours to the ground.

Keep pushing.

Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it, but even worse…

Those who would erase the past are intending to repeat it.

Hands off our history.
Hands off our libraries.
Hands off the NMAAHC.

The more Trump's economic policies hurt his voters, the more sadistic he'll become toward folk of color, LGBTQ folk, and anyone he views as insufficiently on his side, bc if he hurts those folks more, the psychological wage of whiteness/straightness will keep his cult together.

Kristi Noem can't protect her purse in a restaurant, but she's supposed to protect the Homeland from terrorism? Mmm-k, sure.
