Stefan Lessard gave into his intrusive thoughts and IT WORKED.

Wait, like the QAM part? While that's not easy to understand (I have a vague grasp at best), it certainly seems easier to understand than mmWave circuitry design, which seems to me belongs in the realm of art or maybe religion.

...cooling. A bit later he was laying at our feet snoring loudly while his stomach was rumbling just about as loudly.

...noticed the dog looking mighty sheepish and a bit guilty, and managed to put 2&2 together. He has licked a nearly full large glass casserole dish entirely, pristinely clean, while it was sitting atop the stove...

Lab owners unite! A lab we had years go clandestinely ate an entire lasagna off the stove while my wife and I were in the dining room each having a piece. My wife went into the kitchen for seconds, then stuck her head back out and asked me when I put the to lasagna away. That's about the time we...

100% Same. So much so, that there was a brief moment here where I wondered if the OP and I were perhaps in grad school together, and I has just forgotten the story until now.

(Full disclosure, that's an exaggeration. I actually did the math, and there's unlikely to be enough caffeine in a bag of coffee beans to be fatal to a horse).

US drug policy is weird. Jump through all kinds of crazy hoops to get relatively safe amounts of methylphenidate, because it has a high potential for abuse. But if I compulsively buy weekly bags of roasted beans from Trader Joe's, that have enough CNS stimulant inside to kill a horse, that's cool.

LOLing because I was once on 36mg Concerta, then there was a shortage, so I got my doc to prescribe 27mg that the pharmacy had in stock. And immediately developed a literal 12 cup a day coffee habit. When they had 36mg back in stock I just had my doc keep me on 27mg 'cause I really like coffee.

"Fog Pockets" is my new band name, and our debut single is "Moist Gray Burrito."

I wonder how Andrey Markov feels about this. He might have been right about the law of large numbers, but the 4.3 star rating indicates that perhaps Pavel Nekrasov is getting the last laugh anyway.

Project Plowshare might disagree with your definition of "better done". Which reminds me, I have been to both the beach and Exploding Whale Memorial Park in Florence, but I still need to check the Sedan crater off of my bucket list.

It was pretty mundane right up until the Q & A. I think "Have you ever seen a dead body?" was literally the first question.

I am reminded of the time I gave a talk to my daughters' Girl Scout Troop on what it was like being a SAR volunteer in the PNW. I was expecting the girls to be horrified and the leaders enthusiastic, and it went exactly the other way around.

I can't explain why your kiddo won't try the carrots, but marshmallows dipped in barbecue sauce sounds surprisingly good to me, so it's plausible your kid is a culinary genius. I have Stubb's spicy BBQ sauce in the fridge, and if I happen to find some marshmallows, I will report back.

I mean, I have certainly made worse decisions in my sleep, at least metaphorically speaking, so hey why not.

I am also imagining that call to EOD. "Yeah, we need you to come pick up some Comp B." "Where? A mountain." "What's it from? A nuclear device." "Yeah I'm sure there's no radiation hazard, they picked up that material 70 years ago." "No, I don't know how they got all that but missed the Comp B."
