Scale modeller first and always…
I think these are the same steps more recently

Made a decent start on this fella and happy so far, though still a long way to go. Thing I’m dreading most is hand painting the Stars and Stripes and screaming eagles patches!

Made a start on this chap, on the basis I might get him finished before the New Year. Having another go at zenithal highlighting which I always seem to struggle with…. Also got a stack of finished projects which I need to get proper photos of!

Doesn’t sound like you’ll have time, but if you do manage to snatch a little extra, Mont Ormel is great, and Moissy Ford near Chambois is still very atmospheric, AND you can find your very own bits of shrapnel

Yeeeeah I’m….not sure about that!

Maybe not - when we bought our neighbours house (resident for 50+ years it wasn’t much better than this and he still lived in it). Very private, refused to let people in, and refused any help from social services 😔These pics were AFTER tidying several skips of rubbish out

I mean the Canberra wasn’t bad at low level, but not really it’s forte - I wonder if you are thinking of the Buccaneer - which was noted for its low level prowess?

Kalkarra naval cemetery worth a visit - includes Japanese war graves from WW1. Also some very touching inscriptions

We also visited the naval hospital at Bighi(?) not generally open - for Jack Tars recuperating here it must have seemed like paradise!

Good man! But drinking proper beer here 😉

I always get the sense Brandt’s work is designed to be evocative as much as documentary - I don’t get all the hand wringing.. as an aside bought a house last year with no windows to one elevation - it’s on a slope and the windowless wall is North facing (and now has windows 😀)

Have started adding decals to the big 262. As 15 year old Trumpeter decals go these are incredible, super thin and conform really nicely

Thank you! The underside scheme is entirely black so I need to figure out how to make it interesting without going all Johnny Nice!! 😀

To be fair this probably would be the worst canopy to deal with, but still I love me some Eduard masks!

As a slight aside Skircoat Green, Halifax, was a hotbed of Chartism in the mid 19th century. The pub is still called the Standard of Freedom following a speech by the Landlord “The people of Skircoat Green shall join in that march of freedom and I shall raise the Standard of Freedom at this Inn.”

Be my guest 😂

On a lighter note the local res is being drained for maintenance (not drinking water, it was built to provide power to the many textile mills in the valley). It is crammed full of mussels! Some really quite large. Apparently they taste like cr*p and are often full of parasites though 😬

Now THIS is an assault tank! Arguably equally pointless by the time it appeared

The big bikes (450’s etc) are a pretty damn fast - and they keep this up for about 10 laps!

Honestly it’s exhausting just watching!
