salted preserved egg yolk is a seasoning with broad application in Chinese (and other (?)) cuisines. you get it inside a moon cake, or coating a piece of fried chicken. rich, savory, a little eggy. like the cheese powder on a Dorito but it's salted egg yolk on a fried fish skin
