Your first tip at the end of your post is the best way to look at AI. I use Claude to get feedback on my ideas, outlines, scenes, and worldbuilding.
What AI has helped me with the most is getting a better understanding of my characters and their motivations and arcs.

I thought the draft we were reading I thought was my original draft, not a "edited" draft with different changes to the story.
