Did you get good at the combos and special powers? I’m playing gow 2018 and despairing of ever feeling comfortable with the combat. I enjoy souls games but the competence curve seems higher here even though you can get through the fights while flailing around quite a bit.

I just read the thread more fully. I see that the context was very much not a general discussion of how Xmas is evolving culturally! And was in fact a context where raising its growing secularity would be very obnoxious!

It’s like Christianity wrote a banger song with a structure they cribbed from a pagan genre and it was a hit and no one needs to know what the lyrics mean to nod their head and catch the vibe.

The post you’re responding to is wildly overstated but I would say that for many people - growing probably in parallel with secularity - none of that is being celebrated or has any meaning or importance.

Address obstructionism! Allow the legislature to legislate! They could send more $ to the executive and give it more discretion in how it spends that money! People being titillated by “robust action” does not make codifying it it a good idea.

Nope. It’s beautifully shot, the stakes and meaning of every moment are clear, and it’s the only Star Wars film with recognizable adult emotions and characters, and stays firmly grounded in the sw aesthetic. Significant achievement. The only real film in the franchise outside the original trilogy.

The coalition should probably include anyone who is committed to establishing strict and democratic procedural norms. You need the people who contend with you ideologically to be willing to play by some set of rules or you’re just wobbling on the edge of fascism every time they win a trifecta.

Yeah I mean we’re not computers but if you think about the physical systems that support our experience of subjectivity they’re pretty mechanical.

I remember hearing about inflation and taxes when I was a kid and being like who cares as long as what you making is increasing? Yes, u could conceivably have more if you cut taxes and dropped prices but those are arbitrary bench marks. This was more about being easily contented than smart though.

Me too. But celebrating good news seems particularly important when most of the news is bad?
Celebration just can’t mean it’s time to stop pushing or that we are recalibrating our sense of the moment to “everything’s ok now”
