They do seem to, don't they? See also: one bad experience on a bus means the whole idea of public transport must be flawed; but one terrible car journey means ... it was just a bad journey.

I read that as "MAGA heat pumps are coming" and thought we were near an event horizon.

I'm guessing the idea is they could all be taken out one by one using the same process as each assumed the presidency. But that strikes me as very slow and ineffective, and no matter how far down the line you go, they're all still Republicans. To change that you have to have an election.

That was true in 2024 and purity voting was not an option. However next time it looks like a vote for any of the top 5 is valid, so all bets are off.

Even impeaching and removing doesn't trigger an election. It simply puts Vance in the seat to do whatever he wants. Is that an improvement?

I suspect the phrase "and subject to the jurisdiction thereof" may be where the wiggle room lies.

It'll be OK in the cities but in rural areas most will probably close. Petrol tanks are big but those drivers will have to start doing some planning on rural journeys.

Not to the same extent. Petrol stations will become rarer but the roads will still be used by those not on petrol. The gas grid, however, has no other use for people not on gas. :)

Harmonised rules are good. The EU flourishes with them, and
Britain has learnt to its enormous cost what happens when a country leaves that harmonised system.
But the EU is democratic; the rules are agreed together.
The problem is when those rules are dictated by ONE MAN.

The Greens are not just an "environment" party. They know that any adequate response to the raging climate and ecological crises has to involve action on inequality and in many other areas than just those perceived to be "environmental".

The point is right, the damage will take a long time to repair, but the word "never" is wrong. Germany became a trusted partner to most nations again after some time.

Good luck getting the public to understand and buy into that. People want a face to identify (or not identify) with. The majority do not and have never voted on policy alone, sorry.

Well your stats demonstrate what I'm talking about nicely. Add 3p to that and you're still paying barely half what the diesel costs. Yes, rapid charging is pricier but most people do 99% of their driving within one charge of home.

There is no rule that says things can't be taxed more than once. Most things are, in one way or another. It's fine. No need to do any distinguishing, just pay the small tax and get on with life. Both kinds of car will still be much cheaper to run than ICEs.
