I like words. Long words. Words that sound good. Made up words. Pleasing combinations of words. Grammar is for losers.
I like other stuff too like geekery, travel, photography, allotmenteering, food/cookery/baking. I blog at https://Whitemore.com

You are clearly engaging in bad faith and just want to conflate an argument so you can play word games with a stranger. I'm not on this platform for that kind of nonsense. Have a great day.

You really do have muddled thinking. You say info was out there at the time but also long term effects could not be known at the time. Normally drugs go through longer approval process so long term affects are known. Here public were falsely reassured about long term effects when they weren't known

Which is why people have a right to information so they can make their own informed decisions about risk.

You don't say?! Thanks for explaining. I'm talking about people with preexisting conditions who are more vulnerable to drugs. Go tell them to chill out and relax.

Put it this way, if the risks (as far as they were known) had been clearly articulated certain groups of people would have been able to make a more informed decision. That choice was taken away from them. There has been no accountability and little reflection from this period (eg: BJ "let it rip")

That's not a point I'm making. Vaccines were needed. It's not an either/or scenario. People were not well informed of risks before taking vaccines. Those who have suffered side effects have largely been abandoned by the health system and government.

It was an impossible situation because action had to be taken but we could only have limited understanding of potential side effects at that time. My biggest gripe is the health community / govt have largely moved on and people with long term vaccine problems have been abandoned.

True, if you read a Paracetamol packet for potential side effects you might never take them. Health communication is incredibly hard at the best of times let alone during a pandemic

Been there. I've even authored stuff only to find that I've previously done so myself. On the plus side I've discovered that my new stuff is consistent with the old stuff.

I followed the Alternative Sage group that convened to independently objectively communicate without any political bias. It was clear they felt the government were using science selectively according to their political priorities.

No, this is anecdotal from memory but I remember the simplistic government messaging. There was no nuance or supplementary information. Is this not your recollection of govement briefings during covid?

I'm not saying this was a simplistic situation but people were not given an informed choice and the consequences for many are serious. There is no widespread recognition or support within the health system leaving many people medically disenfranchised 2/2

There were messages like that but they were worded to say that risks were to all intents and purposes not worth worrying about and we should all get vaccinated as one. Now it appears many people have serious long term health problems as a consequence 1/2
