Gib! They look PERFECT and now I'm hungry
tincfox.bsky.social
Ah ha! Okay yeah the lvl down trap. I knew about that but thought it was a Zekalus desert thing (but shouldn't be surprised its in other areas)

And yeah, even without that, being stat aware for lvl ups has done too much x3
tincfox.bsky.social
Ivalice chronicles also lets you skip random battles too, so errands are good way to get JP w/o exp for specific classes for some units.

I was using it to get up dependent classes lvl'd for "optimal stat growth" but I need to stop that x3

And yeah, great for no random battle run :3c
tincfox.bsky.social
I also think that may get me out of my "rawr, big phys and magic damage with big moves" builds and focus on the subtler classes with status effects (eg, if I don't have ninja to buff a dragoons speed for jump, I could be forced to use mystic more)
tincfox.bsky.social
I'm actually banning calculator from this play through, its too powerful x3

I also contemplated banning ninja from my next play through since that's when this run got too easy :c

Wait, what's the waterfall rule here?
tincfox.bsky.social
Yeha, grinding in this game definitely brings things to a halt :c so may avoid that.

I was thinking a no random battle rule would be a good way to maybe fix my game as is and it seems to be helping.

Which! While waiting for crystals to appear is tedious, it does add another challenge to fights.
tincfox.bsky.social
Argh.... I did a goof and I over leveled my characters in FFT :c

I just wanted the cool classes! but now I just stomp everything.

Curse knowing the cheese strats for this game...

I'm gonna have to do some kinda challenge run next time I play this.

Final Fantasy Tactics: Chronicles of Ivalice is filling me with feels. I have formative memories tied up with this game, and playing it again just opened the flood gates on all of it.

The remake is gorgeous as well! ...having said that, I may switch it to classic mode at some point x3

This is so cool, and it's making me wanna re-theme my desktop and terminal and stuff too :3c

And maybe sketch a Tinc to use as a background image :3c

Ough I just fixed the weird quirk with vim (check alt text) that colors turns weird if you set termguicolors option, does not respect terminal's color, and the dark/light theme detection with kitty terminal
A screenshot of two linux terminal emulators, both shows neofetch and vim editor with a test c hello world code, termguicolors are set on both vim
The left vim shows incorrect colors, neofetch does not respect terminal's color and the editor is incorrectly using light colorscheme
The right vim shows correct colors, neofetch respects terminal's color and the editor is using dark colorscheme

Oh, some hyperpop came up, we can skip it

Oh, it's fine

What's hyperpop?

It's, uh this playing now.

It's alright, I don't mind it.

We can skip it if.

What, we all said it's fine, unless you wanna skip it?

No, I... like hyperpop.

Then why suggest we skip it!?

It's not everyone's thing!

Hi @npr.org! We worked late tonight putting together this handy pocket guide!

It doesn't address road design issues, but if we're going to educate road users, we should include drivers.

It's the size of a folded business card. Print it, fold it, put it in your wallet!
"How Do You Avoid Hitting People With Your Car" pocket guide. Instructs readers to Watch the Road and Slow Down. Further text humorously insists that watching the road and slowing down are indeed important.

My city has been installing separate isolated bike lanes with their own sets of lights. Heck yeah safety wins!

...and while stopped at those lights I had a car honk at me and swerve around me and take the turn while the bike lane had their green.

No one was hurt, but if a biker was taking it?

...but if I'm gonna be real, the Speed Completion achievement is feeling a little tedious for me, and I will probably *never* touch Steel Soul mode (I'm too scrappy!) so those are also probably not gonna get done x3

But there's 2 secret achievements and the regular speedrun one I feel like trying~

I'm shocked about how good the map and exploration felt. Felt BIG and kept being shocked at new areas.

There were so many good sequence breaks to be found, and I'm convinced the later areas were designed to be traversible in multiple ways (aka assumed you might not have all the upgrades already).

My word, I loved this game. As a big fan of Metroidvania's, I feel like this one was perfect. I didn't feel the tedium that all have at one point or another.

Most modern ones can feel very railroaded, and even good ones have that point of "too OP in battle and movement and getting 100% is boring"
tincfox.bsky.social
::lays down exhausted:: I...did it!!!

now I can finally put it down...

...and start a new save and try to platinum it! And see what the speedrun community is doing so far >:3c

Last bit of advice from someone who's been around the internet a long time.

For sure, keep making noise here and pushing the boundaries 🤘

Buuuuut also don't put all your resources and attention in one thing. No service is permanent or infallible.

Bsky will fade.

Value community over spaces.

I've been working on my own stuff in the background for this inevitability, but it's nothing that's ready or polished or anything I'd recommend widely.

However, with Blacksky (and I guess Northsky) taking shape I am optimistic.

ATProto's alleged ability to migrate data makes those promising too.

Bsky the *company* needs to make money someday, VC funding will only get them so far (even if they are a PBC). And that means either paying for the site or dealing with ads and all the baggage associated.

I think we also need to have online spaces we own. Not just rental space we occupy.
tincfox.bsky.social
Bsky is fun! I love all my furry friends and artists and porn and kinky stuff and our trans brothers, sisters, and siblings. Yall did make this site popular!

...but also, we didn't make it *profitable*.

I've been happily using it and enjoying it, but I have no delusions that it's THE final place.

Next, maybe I can try to block all those weird sites for game-specific questions (IGN, game8, or the spew of other sites that keep popping up that read like AI-generated aggregate slop).

I miss when gamefaqs and reddit were top results for such things :c

...and just learned Fandom owns gamefaqs...
tincfox.bsky.social
I heard of a browser extension that redirects any fandom links you happen to come across to their respective forked wikis, which is awesome! but maybe a little invasive for my tastes.

I am also tempted to add it as custom uBlock entry (assuming it's not in a list already).
