I think the mission variety was really something that set it apart too. one mission you are escorting a ground unit, the next you are attacking those big flying bases that exist only for that level, the next is a pure dogfight.

Yeah, its a much more interesting flavor for me than a world of just like force and fear. Not that I don't still like those things but I think they're a lot more fun in this sort of context, plus there's room for plenty of other stuff besides just those two.

I much prefer that dynamic over bigger=win. Something really especially interesting about, folks of different size being equals in many or even most situations, it makes it that much better when you get to the rare ones they are not.
