Black Bag also a perfect example of why movie stars are such a necessary part of the film ecosystem. Most of the cast occasionally fumbles Koepp’s hyper-mannered middlebrow dialogue, but both Blanchett and Fassbinder make it sound like the sexiest language in the world. You can’t teach that

Black Bag may be one of the great films about monogamy, a relationship, its many trade offs, and the implicit trust needed to make it run as so many sleek surfaces, coiled performances, and contradictory, jazz-set, cross-cut lies. And somehow it’s kind of hot??? Magical

Light Yagami is a great character in part because he’s a perversion of the typical shonen protagonist. Like the archetype he’s an everyday teen who achieves big things by believing in himself, but unlike the archetype he’s also a manipulative narcissistic sociopath
