That’s actually 3 nested coozies; pretty snug - worked last night

Note: Harlem neighborhood was founded by Camp Parapet “contrabands” at the end of the war. A bit of the camp cemetery remains in use on Scott street

Beige is 1, Gray is 2

The eastern finger of 1 was recently added to grab the Garden District and the western finger of 2, along Earhart non-residential corridor, was added to pack strong majority black, Harlem neighborhood into La’s single black district

Last Gerrymander has put large parts of Uptown with Lakeview and University in La 1, so you may even be a constituent now

I have portable fans to blast the warm air from my HVAC ceiling vents (trapped at ceilings by closed transoms) down to living levels. In old days every room had a floor-level coal fireplace, then later a gas floor furnace in the sidehall

My house has those, but they’re defunct and transoms painted shut

Yep, and here it is:

Yep, there were ceiling fans that were driven by a centralized belt system. I have a vague memory of some effigy that was powering the belt; very vague

When I was there in the 80s it was way past its prime, kind of dingy, and mostly empty; on its last legs, but apparently, in the 1890s-1910s it was considered one of the very best restaurants in the city

When I first started to visit NO CBD office in brutal 1980s summers, I would escape for lunch to the cool dark environs of Kolbs for some great German food that reminded me of my grandmother's rich cooking. I swear, the ceilings are like 30 feet high in that building

Well, you know the transplants are all nolier than thou

Had to google that, LOL

OK architecture nerds: I guess that's a carved ridge beam not a lintel

Trust me, travel while you're young - it gets harder. Another idea: employees should start with 6 weeks of paid vacation and gradually have it reduced to 2 weeks at 30 years

Other side of the lintel
