Does anyone else find the "year in review" creepy? It just reminds me how much data a company has gathered about me and makes me want to use them less.

Sometimes I forget just how many costumes I've made for my kids and just how often black sweatshirts came in clutch.
A late-series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine uniform top, operations division, rank of Ensign, sized for a small child. There's also an Old Republic Jedi holo-communicator on the left of the image. I've pulled that out so it can be used as a prop by the student org I advise.

In an unexpected collision between past work and present occupation, I realised that I contributed features to the ASIFA's journal back in 2005 and 2007. The same International Animated Film Association that I now reference when I teach about animation beyond Hollywood. It's.....a little whiplash.
Two issues of Cartoons: The International Journal of Animation. The issue on the left is open to show the table of contents. My article, "Travel The Warner Bros' Way: Travelogue Cartoons, 1938-1942" is listed right before John Canemaker's work. The issue on the right is closed, but the cover reads "volume 1, issue 2, winter 2005." Image shows the table of contents for Cartoons: The International Journal of Animation, Volume 1, Issue 2, Winter 2005. My article, "Hollywood vs. Hicksville: Warner Bros. and Disney, in the 1930s" is the fourth feature in the section.

I've been asking students to analyze memes and write essays on them in context of audience, era of format, and concurrent events since fall 2017, apparently. This surfaced as I've been updating my lecture materials today.

I'm revising my lecture on memes and I really like how there's always something to learn about it.

Veterans Day is coming up, so my pilot father is on my mind. The button the left wasn't his - it was in a lot of vintage sewing notions - but it still reminded me of him.
A WWII-era US Army Air Corps button and a 1980s-era pair of Army aviator wings are on either side of a patch with jump wings embroidered on it. The latter two belonged to my father.
