Keep in mind that these types of services are incentivized to keep you just under that coveted number so you continue to pay more.

I’ve never played the game so don’t know the story but I’m really enjoying Halo on Netflix.

Never forget that name.

Perhaps post this story often and offer up the name in DMs for anyone else who may be looking to script swap so they won’t be taken advantage of by such an ‘aspiring’ human.

Look up producers from A24 films and query them. Look up their managers and query them. IMDBPro is your friend.

If you’ve gotten 9s on the blacklist and they haven’t promoted you… walk away from them. If you don’t know anyone who has gotten traction from these services or contests, walk away.

Tropes. 👇🏻
thescriptreader.bsky.social
You can talk tropes forever. It's such a huge subject.

If you want to avoid predictability, understanding tropes and how to use them is pivotal.

tvtropes.org is hands down the best resource on the topic and is well worth a look. #scriptsky

It’s so easy not to burn a bridge. If ya can’t commit the time, don’t make the offer.

Remember the name and move on is all you can do. 👍🏻

A month at least. I work on something else during that time and then come back to it with fresh eyes.

I love to do research for my scripts. The rabbit holes I’ve dived into are large and sometimes haunting.

Yet every script is better for the time spent on the research.

I already want to read whatever you’re adapting… 😂😉

In Adaptation, a fictionalized Robert McKee says, “The last act makes a film. Wow them in the end, and you got a hit. You can have flaws, problems, but wow them in the end, and you've got a hit.”

Bull. Shit.

Nobody’s making it to Act 3 if your Act 1 sucks.

I got that, too, and then updated the app and it mysteriously worked again.

I struggle with loglines. And based on the #Scriptsky #Screenwriting #WritingCommunity posts I’ve seen, so do lots of other people. Loglines are hard! But if you’re trying to get people interested in your script/book, it helps to have a great one. So here’s a 🧵 on some LOGLINE DOs and DON’Ts.

For the writers in my mentions asking how to handle bad notes: Remember that most executives are trying to make your script WORK, not tear it down. The note about your third act might be clumsy, but there's usually a legitimate concern underneath. Find it, fix it, flourish.

Ignore them.

Your job is to make the reader want to turn the page.

How you do that is up to you.
tlowrites.bsky.social
No. You were talking about how to format two characters talking at the same time. You would normally use dual dialogue.
tlowrites.bsky.social
This is such a fantastic script. ❤️

Late Show with Stephen Colbert! Yes! #EmmyAwards

How he asked about jobs for his 200 person crew was fantastic.

“If the elevator tries to bring you down, go crazy and punch a higher floor!” ❤️
