Rolling stock engineer in UK rail industry for years, from apprenticeship upwards. First home is Polegate. Second home is Cuba. Views are my own.
I’ve been looking through my old photos. This was a DODS (Drawing Office Drinking Squad) visit to the East Lancs Railway on 8th June 1991, when we enjoyed travelling behind 40145, plus many beers of course. The thin chap removing the headboard at Bury is me!

Enjoying a quiet pint at the Windsor Club in Polegate. Great local band called, imaginatively, Music Band.

Purchased from the Harveys brewery shop in Lewes - at 6.5% I will be savouring these!

Note the growth of vegetation between these two photos:
- First pair of Southern 455s going for scrap on 4th May 2022 (5838 & 5839)
- Last pair of Southern 455s going for scrap on 16th August 2022 (5804 & 5819)

The Mrs wanted to go down the High Street to look in the charity shops. Fortunately for me, only one opens on Sundays. Nonetheless I managed to find a brilliant single in the vinyls section - and only 49p!

Excellent coordination:
City Fibre and Network Rail both working in the High Street causing it to be closed to through traffic, although that didn’t stop cars ignoring the signs, getting as far as the level crossing, then turning around!

Sloe gin production completed. A record 14 bottles this year are now resting until Christmas 🍷

Nice new beer pumps at the Polegate Windsor Club - very smart. That explains why there was a Harvey's Brewery van outside the club yesterday!

Had to carry out a quick audit of new Harvey’s beer Red Rye IPA at The Dinkum on my way home! Very nice it is too 👌

These flagged-up roundabouts are getting simply ridiculous now!

Snow plough, built from Lego Technical set 850. When building this, I found what might be considered to be an illegal Lego assembly today - the two stud block was a very tight fit into the technical brick holes.
(Everything was free and easy in the chilled out 70’s, obviously!)

Who on earth has been down the Cuckoo Trail cutting back the sloe bushes just as the sloes are ripening? They won’t be getting any of my sloe gin this year 😡

Photos from the back garden, during today’s Polegate Air Show (actually, it’s aircraft flying to and from Airborne ‘25).
The Lancaster was on a direct course towards Arlington Reservoir, although fortunately I couldn’t see an “Upkeep” hanging from the fuselage!
