Todd Oishi Fly Fishing 🇨🇦

Loving metalworking, woodworking, and fly fishing in the Kamloops region of British Columbia and abroad. My passion for fly fishing and competition angling has taken me around the world and introduced me to some pretty amazing people and waters…
Looks great! Good job!!

Yes, our lakes have an abundance of aquatic life, which accounts for the rapid growth rate and sizes of our brook trout and rainbows. Here’s an example of the size that our rainbows trout are capable of reaching at 2-1/2 years. This one measured 21 inches and 3.6 pounds (I kept this one for dinner):

Agreed! There’s nothing better than a shore lunch of fresh trout when camping!
Here’s a photo that gives you an idea of the growth rate of our eastern brook trout that are stocked as fingerlings (average size 7.736 grams ) after living for 16 months in one of my local lakes:

I know that brook trout are the native trout for your part of the country, and rainbows very popular, but do they having stocking programs for your lakes that use brook trout as well?
The lakes in my region that are stocked with both eastern brook trout and rainbows are very popular with anglers.

Stunning and beautiful trout! Love the spots and colours! I always find it very interesting to hear how the different species of fish were relocated and adapted to a new (to them) environment!
Thanks for sharing that, Aarne!!

They are a unique subspecies of rainbow trout, Aarne, with very few spots on their sides. They’re incredibly strong fish that are best known for their hard runs and high jumps once they’ve been hooked! The Pennasks are used for a lot of our province’s stocking programs for our interior lakes.
