I’m coming back as a cat!
March 3, 2025 at 3:46 PM
Milo needed a quick drink on his walk.
January 21, 2025 at 3:49 PM
Can I help you?
January 15, 2025 at 9:31 AM
Like Phoenix, I hope 2025 rises from the ashes of 2024 and delivers you a happy, healthy & prosperous 12 months.
Happy New Year to one and all.

Father Christmas was early.

I have started a gofund.me/5758dd3a to raise money for Richard Broadhead (@WiltSoldiers), who is a fellow Battlefield Guide, but has sadly been robbed of his passion through illness.
I am trying to raise funds for a mobility vehicle.
I hope you can help him return to Ypres.

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.

A doubly pissed off cat. Not only is it blowing a hooley, but the hoomans have a sosig staying that wants to play & doesn’t understand Cats & Dogs are sworn enemies.
What, he’s here the whole weekend?

Christmas shopping has started in earnest in Corsham.
The Peacocks are out buying their beloved Peahens gifts.
A look in the window, to see they have the right colour/size then a dash inside. 😁

The church of St James (by the Cramer) used to be the Garrison Church for the Wiltshire Regt & still contains some of the Colours that have been laid up.

I had the pleasure of attending a commemoration event with fellow DERR veterans for the battle of Ferozeshah which was fought on 21 & 22 Dec 1845.
A wonderful church service was officiated by our Association Padre, the Very Reverend Alan Jeans MBE.
We then adjourned to the Wyvern Club for curry.

A sad sight of The Old Town Hall, also known as The Locarno or Locarno Ballroom, in Swindon.

Christmas has arrived early, as this angelic furball brought me a gift at 03:00.
Not for the squeamish.

Has Storm Bert gone yet?
Is it safe to go out, is the sun shining?
November 26, 2024 at 9:01 AM
The face of a cat that wishes Storm Bert would just bugger off, as he has no intention of going out in this weather.

@hoogecrater - I hope you are receiving royalties on the use of this photo?
I can’t see any @cwgc communication without seeing you, Ilse, Louis & Arthur.
It is a lovely photo of a wonderful family.

Today was quite stressful. 😩
We survived being snowed in and managed to break out before the workers could encircle us with their trench & barriers.
I wonder what tomorrow will bring?

In addition to paying my respects at the funeral of Ivor Gardner, a 4th Wiltshire Veteran of the Normandy campaign I was struck by the beauty of the church and some of the memorials, including WW1 crosses.

Today, as custodian of a FWW Home Service Pattern helmet I achieved my aim of reuniting it with its owner, 2Lt Gibbons, in St Symphorien Cemetery.

Col Watson Commanded the 66th (Berkshire Regiment) before Col Galbraith & the ill-fated battle of Maiwand.
I cannot help but think that Dr Watson, of Sherlock Holmes fame was an amalgamation of him & Surgeon Major Alexander Francis Preston of the 66th.
Buried at Brookwood.
November 14, 2024 at 10:27 AM
Saw these recent additions in Brookwood.
Staff in CWGC Military Cemetery were brilliantly helpful (as always) & told me they were reburials from the plans for HS2.
The documents, indicate he was moved from New Brentford Churchyard.
@rocsoutheast1.bsky.social - could web entry make this clearer?
