hah thats true, but any additional time spent on anti piracy measures is hurting their bottom line!! 😎 and it's a fruitless endeavour honestly

but i will say IF you choose to pirate (for anyone reading this), if you disagree with their practises, do so quietly. no you didn't give them money but you could still be giving them free promo by talking about how great the game is, which is still very valuable to them

i think whatever we can do to not give them money (in whatever way) is the most effective for sure. CEOs are under a lot of pressure from shareholders to make back investments so thats the most important thing. goodwill doesn't matter a whole lot to them, only money (see disney, netflix)

also in the past i would have said that larian did care about making a good product, i no longer believe that. they have reached the point where the company is too large and all they care about is more money than last time

imo people are more likely to pirate than to abstain, so normalizing pirating / reverse theft for bad practises is a decent incentive for companies to not be scummy. in the end, all these corporations care about is money, not if they have a good or bad product that people enjoy
