I run a couple anime con panels. I also appreciate Japanese chili (and IRL anime food) on the side.

We met up again for Crystal Mall food court fare! I didn’t get a picture of it, but the xiao long bao was second-to-none.

Anyway, post-con and “peace Zelda-liking jerkoff” dinner!

Remember this heavily-documented toxic Zelda-liking jerkoff who wanted us to give her the Japanese names of Zelda games “or else it wouldn’t count” during her tune-naming gameshow?

A friend told me that she was escorted out of the con during my panel. Good riddance.
Update: I forwarded a picture of her running the panel to a contact in that creep-catching group. They confirmed that yes, the panelist is indeed that toxic Zelda-liking jerkoff who the group as a collective heavily documents.

(I learned that she’s also an Otakuthon 2025 panelist!)

I used the Just One Cookbook recipe for the yakisoba. The burger bun is a kaiser roll (using King Arthur Baking's recipe) with sesame seeds and without the iconic stamp or knot.

That was what I thought until seeing Coop's video, since Baja Blast is a citrusy drink.

I don't draw that much compared to my teenage years, but thanks for your offer!

Unfortunately, I've traded drawing for cooking and *sigh* anime convention panels. But here's a doodle from 2020 back when people drew Canadian (and later, American) postsecondary institutions as *shuffles deck, takes card* anime girls.

My preteen self _devoured_ the books available at both the school and public libraries, where I'd have his books and my sketchbook side-by-side. Then I got a drawing tablet, discovered Tumblr and DA art tutorials, and never looked back (for the time drawing was my hobby).

They also make awesome freezer meals! When I make a big pot of chili, half of it goes into the freezer as a lazy meal for when I don't feel like cooking.

That looks so hearty 🤤

(It's also making me wish that I picked up extra cans of crushed tomatoes and beans from Walmart earlier today)

It's in a mall instead of being a standalone shop, but Metro Vancouver has a similar concept called "The Artist Alley". (yuumocha, my profile picture artist, is part of their lineup 🥰)

The Artist Alley - A Permanent Artist Alley
A store for talented artists to showcase and sell their original work, much like what you would find a convention or art market.

Despite KPop Demon Hunters characters being top trending costumes and our neighbourhood's trick-or-treaters being mostly (East) Asian, I surprisingly did not see anyone dressing up as those characters.

Some of the other notable costumes I saw:
• Coraline
• Hanfu enthusiast
• Countess Elisabeth Bathory
• An inflatable shark
• Multiple “spies” (kids in regular clothes)
• Tanjiro, Nezuko, and the rest of the Demon Slayer crew
• What I can assume to be an anime convention creep 😬
