Better battery life on laptop. Better desktop environment (simply the freedom to choose)
Open source (and libre) software

If you are a programmer 90% of the time Linux is more practical.
My laptop gets better battery life (~10%)
Privacy, security, and control over system is top notch.
I daily drive and these are my reasons. Some people get better FPS in certain games.

Confirm that the target computer's boot type is the same with the source computer's. There are two industry standard boot methods. BIOS (mostly legacy systems) and UEFI.
Consult the target computer's user manual for more information.
(Tip: motherboard manual if its a desktop.)

Get the disk out, install an OS on another system, put the disk back in.
If the OS is Windows, do the installation offline so no automatic driver installation happens.

With hardware acceleration as well! Truly incredible!

As long as you're comfortable and productive its good lol. A computer is a tool. If a tool works, it works.
However I gotta say, if you get some free time and want to tinker around, try going for looks that aren't so minimalistic and soulless (MacOS-esque) in their design.

I share your enthusiasm. Linux really is freedom. Teaches a lot about computer science as well. If you're running an intel based machine, and want to dig a little deeper while solving your battery issue, look up CPU undervolting.

1 - Trackpad functionality is hit or miss on xorg compositor based systems. Try livebooting Fedora as it runs wayland compositor by default, your mileage may vary.
2 - Make sure your hardware acceleration is enabled on the browser. If not, all the rendering is done on the CPU instead of the GPU!
