Check out my new pinball action-adventure game Pinball Spire on Steam and Switch! 👀

It's light on story but there's just enough to add some context to what you're doing and keep things interesting. You mostly learn more about the story and characters through emails and computer terminals. It's weird and cool!

It's an unusual game! It's sort of a first person power-washing game but you're breaking up clusters of alien fungus, and you have some other objective in each mission. I think it's a heavily vibes-based game. Feels a bit like Prey in that you're exploring space stations after something went wrong.

Haha... absolutely. I'm still trying to piece together some parts of the story. I kind of appreciate that they don't wrap everything up with a neat little bow at the end. There's room for interpretation.

All too relatable. 😆

Honestly, yeah, I think we need smaller, more focused markets. Or more curation tools on the existing stores somehow. I really hope we figure out a healthier approach to all this in the future.

Ah yeah... You do still need to do those others things as well, on top of making an actually good game. Haha... It can feel overwhelming.

Trying to look at it more objectively, I do think the market is broken. We shouldn't have to play these games with algorithms... I think we'd all rather just focus on making cool stuff.

Steam is currently by far the biggest market for indie games and success on Steam depends on how much and how high your game is surfaced by their algorithms. It sucks but that's tied directly to wishlist number, and it can make an massive difference... 😕

I agree it sucks and I've personally avoided posting about wishlist numbers because it feels weird, but unfortunately it seems to be a key factor to success in the current market.

That does depend on how you define success though. I take it to mean breaking even financially.

Woohoo! Congrats on the launch! 🥳

Wow, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for playing! 🥰
January 7, 2026 at 3:17 AM
Thank you so much, same to you! 🙌

Thank you, it's my pleasure! ❤️

Thank you! It's a real treat to see how much the game can be perfected by a skilled player. 😁

Congrats! I think that's part of the new independent demo page feature but I thought that was optional. Still, there might be advantages to having that demo page, not sure!

That's amazing!

I hate that I'm automatically suspicious of gen AI use when I see a project like this but this looks legit. 🤯
December 31, 2025 at 8:09 PM
Wait... really? Maybe they'll eventually move to that for serialization too.

I'm just learning UE at my new job and I share your pain... Not only are the graphs messy but they're saved as binary files, making changes difficult to follow and impossible to merge. I'll take code over BPs any day!

Hey Nate, thank you so much for the kind words about Pinball Spire! Hearing about people enjoying the game still makes my day every time. 😄
