CGT raises about £2bn per year, equalising the rates would probably bring in a quarter again as much (people would just change their behaviour), which is peanuts in terms of government revenues & would be pretty disruptive to the economy.

The UK press doesn’t do foreign politics - look at all the puff pieces we used to get about Merkel, whose legacy is dependency on russian gas, massive ethnic tensions & a general sense of decay.

At risk of being ostracised, I’m rather a fan of Milei, there’s real substance under the schlocky exterior.
I’m not at all versed enough in US politics to say whether Rep sensibles are an extinct species, but I have US pals who reckon not.

Well, these are the people who likely handed the election to MAGA in the first place. I suspect that the best hope is that Republican sensibles get their sh1t together before they end up with Donald Jr running for the nomination.
