Of course there is a history of this at the lab. Our first servers were Salmo and Perca, because our first IT guy was a fish scientist from Wisconsin
Our lab servers are named after the genus of marine species we're tracking -- delphinus, saxatilis, acipenser.
A little cumbersome to type, but the whimsy more than makes up for it.
