As the child grew, it became obvious that he would never mature intelletually into an adult human being.
He would always be an infant, demanding what he wanted, but with the terrifying power to torture or destroy those who challeged him.

When I was a teenager, I read a Science Fiction Short Story about an infant with God-like powers being born.
The pain of his birth was such that, our of a sense of self-presevervation, the newborn erased virtually every part of reality around him except for those required to care for him.
