"Change of heart" is a nice way to express it.

Like: "I'm usually not a person who likes to insult, but I shrunk my heart three sizes and now I'm gonna be a little bit of grinch towards happy people who live in icy landscapes"

My 2y old kid out of nowhere tells me to "Dad, sit" in the middle of the floor. (He had never asked me to sit before)

Then he just had the biggest smile as he gave me a hug.

Little man just wanted me within hugging range/on a hugging level.
