I understand and agree with what you are saying, tbh. And looking further, from the judge "When deliberately driven into a crowd, the car was capable of inflicting grave and fatal injuries.". I guess I'm just surprised that that is the number the sentence lands on.

It's a tough one as everything you say is true. But the "could have killed many" is doing lifting there surely? What are the aggravating factors when sentencing? How long would he have got if he had killed someone? It's surely the reason we have the separate crimes of murder and attempted murder.

Well done on making your reasons so clear. So many stay quiet out of loyalty or shuffle away without making it understood why. It's a torch in many ways.

Yes, another meaningless saying. Well done. Means nothing, doesn't make anyone prophetic or clever.

When you can test and prove what you say, come back to me.

I'm not offended.

Give me the beauty of nature's complexity. The wind and water cycles coincidentally causing a moment combined with the beauty of the mind that can observe and understand it.

Or your simplistic answer of magic?

Can see Orion too. Very nice.

Or the beauty of coincidentally correct levels of moisture in the air combining with air currents at the right level. Lovely nonetheless.

Regarding point 3, why not? Tolerating something that is Trojan Horse-ing tolerant societies with intolerant views is destructive.

It's intolerant to ensure a greater tolerance.

But what if a dinosaur got trapped in a lake?

Cover for the "I'm not political but [insert far right sentiment]" types.

How do we fight that level of ignorance? Gut feeling is we begin to shut people like Musk and their soapboxes down? Free speech to promote intolerance is destructive to tolerant societies surely?

Who are the "we" in that statement? The only evidence you could draw from that is she so far hasn't received an outpouring of support from labour MPs.
September 9, 2025 at 7:44 PM
I originally thought that, but the fact they leap to that is a bit weird.

To me, if you answer "What do you mean one of our own?" is "why are you calling me anti-Semitic", then my gut feel is they, at the least, already have some prejudices which are influencing the way they engage people.

Any ideas what France is doing here? Are the family support networks increasing? Funded child care?

A classic bbc genre for this is headlines about work payouts for "trivial matters". Then you read the article it inevitably turns out to be payouts due to insidious cases of work place bullying.

Dangerous trivialisation of important subjects where getting the tone wrong normalises toxic behaviours

Absolutely this. Give me in-app purchases over ads every time. It's giving people a choice that will keep people using an app.

It feels like fuel to the fire. Surely the political equivalent of hiding from the "kiss cam". Even if you've got nothing to hide, it sure as hell looks like it.

Conspiracy theorists or neutral bystanders, how else could they read this?

People buy into the idea that shares go up and down more than they do the fact long term the stock market almost always goes up. Both are true, but to the risk averse the fear of loss prevails.

You just need to min / max your way to growth. Simples.

"note to self".

Very publicly for all to see.

It'll be very interesting to see how much (further) these countries move towards Russia or China over the course of the next 4 years.

Soft power is dying.

Ha, thanks I think 😂. It took a few searches, but knew I'd seen the Guardian vid a while back... so it was still fresh in mind.
