To clarify, those first two represent “con style” (ie, direct to paper, working it out as I go at the con table), whereas the songbird one is what you’d get from one of my regular “cover quality” commissions.

Quick note to pedants: yes, hobbit feets have hair. Your kid’s don’t and no one notices while you’re trick or treating. I’m sure you’ve got a pithy comment or genius solution for my oversight. I’m not remotely interested in hearing it.

It’s been a couple of years since I posted my Halloween hobbit feets tutorial.

Ultimately it’s just men’s socks (as close as you can find to your kid’s skin tone) pulled over crocs and painted. I glued soles to the pair shown but you don’t have to.

My adorable child when he was still adorable dressed as Bilbo Baggins for Halloween about twelve(?) years ago. He’s wearing a bunch of hobbit style clothes sources from value village (including a burgundy suede jacket that he wore for years afterward) and a pair of realistic looking hobbit feets.

A pair of children’s crocs with men’s socks pulled over them. I’d also cut out and glued thin soles to them.

Same as previous photo but with toes drawn on in sharpie.

Same as previous photo but now they’ve been painted with acrylics (also shown) to resemble actual human (hobbit) feets.
