Art doesn’t need to mean anything. Of course, it could represent something or have the ability to express some meaning. But sometimes, the act of creating and making is enough. (Colored pencil drawing in 12" x 9" sketchbook.)

Circles are a primitive shape and have been a shape I've used in my art for years. Today's drawing was inspired by balloons, which are usually thought of for celebrations. Many of us are not in a celebratory mood. Maybe we have to remember the things we're grateful for and celebrate those.

Vessels and bowls showing up again in my sketchbook. Inspired by my love of pottery and majolica.

Making art doesn't need to be challenging, sophisticated, or polished. Sometimes, a doodle is enough to relieve the day's stress and bring you satisfaction. So get out your crayons, colored pencils, markers, or whatever you have handy, and have fun. (Two pages in my sketchbook.)

I have a bit of a passion for bowls. I don't know when or how that love started. But I just go with it. I drew this page in my sketchbook today while sitting in the park with my trusty colored pencils. #coloredpencildrawings #coloredpencilart #bowlart #connecticutartists

Drawing in my sketchbook is quite different from my usual acrylic abstract paintings. It was fun to think of and draw shapes reminiscent of flowers and plant life. Plus, it's unusual for me to use a horizontal format. I'm more of a vertical kind of guy!
