I’ve said it before, but I still smile when I look at this! I can still hear the little popping noises the flares make as they’re ejected. Quite a spectacular sight!

Another shot of that AS565 Panther stack up from Hyères.

The Czech Republic operates JAS-39s from Sweden on a lease.

This one, at @rafcosfordairshow in 2019, was painted in 2018 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Vzdušné síly Armády České Republiky (Czech Air Force), combining with 211 Taktická Letka’s (211 Tactical Sqn) NATO Tiger status.

As the saying goes; “Fear God, honour the King”.

This is ZA298, the so called “King of the Junglies” on account of it nearly being shot down three times and sustaining significant battle damage.

This helicopter is now preserved at the Fleet Air Arm Museum at its old home base of RNAS Yeovilton

A Romanian AF IAR-330, and its punchy camo. Great machines to see!

The Polish AF MiG-29 at the RAF Cosford Airshow in 2018, the last time the U.K. saw a MiG-29 display.

One of the supporting jets for the Polish Air Force contingent at RIAT this year. Great to finally see the “Raven” special scheme.

Although not a huge fan of the scheme myself, the “Alien Tiger” Mi-24/35 certainly looks striking. Especially against the background of mountains in Austria.

An Aeronavale AS565 Panther gunning it. Love the subtle two-tone camo to these.

Another of the colourful Aggressor Eagles of the JASDF

One of my favourites from 2022 was seeing the Austrian Air Force Alouette IIIs for the first and last time. They were retired from service twelve months ago, replaced with the AW169M.

A Republic of China Air Force F-5F Tiger taxiing at Hualien twelve months ago. These aircraft have now been retired from Taiwanese service.

The pregnant-looking Dash 8 Q400 “Fireguard”, operated by the Sécurité Civile as a water bomber.

Green “Junglies” and the RNAS Yeovilton Air Day; both things sorely missed by British enthusiasts.
October 22, 2025 at 5:39 AM
The Belgian F-16 display in “Dream Viper” colours appeared in 2022/3 and was unexpectedly cancelled in 2024. It was one of the European stalwarts, and is much-missed these days.

Another of the colourful Aggressor Eagles of the JASDF - 72-8090 wore this striking “mint” or “matcha” scheme during its time with the squadron. It has since rotated out of the squadron and wears a standard livery once again.

The lovely Spanish Air Force SF-5M trainer at RIAT last year. I’ve got a lot of love for the charismatic little Northrop pocket rockets!
October 17, 2025 at 6:06 AM
The “Austrian Tiger” Typhoon/EF2000. As a Tiger special from 2022, I quite liked this one.
October 16, 2025 at 6:01 AM
The lovely RDAF F-16 solo rocking it at RIAT in an operational livery in 2024.
October 15, 2025 at 6:10 AM
The iconic shape of a UH-1 “Huey”. I always wanted to see these in German service but never managed to. Great to see that some are preserved in private hands in Europe.

Looking back at the AS565 Panthers at Hyeres this year. Awesome to see so many of the type over the weekend.
