Ben, like Eddie, was a brilliant force of nature who you could relive your adolescent humor with one moment and then learn something extraordinarily significant the next.
Ben also had the best Halloween costumes every year!

Walt owned a home there but it was not the vacation home where he stayed, which was in nearby Smoke Tree Ranch. The home in Indian Canyons (back then it was called Canyon Country Golf Club) was the WED House, a perk for his Studio and WED staff to reserve for down time.

It sat in a Disneyland warehouse until 1962 when it was donated by Walt to the new golf course near his Palm Springs home (not Smoke Tree Ranch). But what, why, where did it originally come from? Was it a gift to Walt? Was it something designed and built, intended for Disneyland? Must know!

It should be older than any of the eucalyptus wind-break trees, which are almost all gone now, save for maybe one or two behind Storybook Land. For a long time there was a clump of misc trees behind Pirates that were leftover from the Peltzer home. I need to consult a couple peeps about those.

I should have prefaced by saying this is not in Anaheim, Burbank, or Glendale. Also not in Florida or New York. And Disney archeology, not necessarily Disneyland.

kind of a Tivoli Gardens arrangement where it’s about music, food, and street performers first, rides & attractions second. Music, art, food, etc, so possibly organized into areas representing International, National, and California. A summary with photos of the pitch boards exists somewhere.

I’m in that shot, partially blocked by Bran Ferran’s huge head. I was in Barry Braverman’s group, which I believe was the one that went all in on California, while the others all seemed to include some California element. The one other pitch I remember focused on live entertainment and festivals,
