@jessealexander.bsky.social I want to thank you for your documentaries! I watched the first use of gas in WWI the other day, and tonight settling in for the outbreak of WW1 1914 video. Whenever I am in a funk, your history documentaries bring me back to my history-nerd self!

Left thinking indexes highly on stuff that we as citizens of a democracy can influence and less on foreign corollaries. This can lead to avoidance of tough debates like whether to fight a war with ostensibly just goals but in general hews to a "first, do no harm" ethos that is probably salutary.
I don't think that the pacific theater is really above criticism just because Imperial Japan was worse but at the same time the whole nuclear bombing of Japan discourse kinda reveals how a lot of leftier people find war so repulsive they don't want to think about it in any way beyond platitudes

Baltic Sea cable incidents Nov 17-18 2024.

Notes thread with ship tracks, some animated.

No ship here should be understood as implicated. These are tracks I found noteworthy or someone else wanted replayed.

We collect facts at this point. This ship was there at that time.

Requests encouraged.
