So very sorry to hear of Chris Rea's passing. A fine artist & genuinely big-hearted human being. We first met in 1974 when he and my first band were managed by Teesside legend John McCoy. By 1994 Chris was an international star but played on my album Love Over Rage as a favour for a penniless mate.

HEALTH UPDATE: In recent years I've had a low level version of a fairly common heart condition called Atrial Fibrillation (AF). I normally keep it controlled & safe with medication. Had a flare-up after last Tuesday's gig in Shoreham and had to go back to my GP in London for an ECG and to change the medication. Regrettably this meant cancelling our Norwich show on Wednesday, which will now be rescheduled to January. After some bed rest I was then able to play Cambridge, Nottingham and Sheffield this week with no further heart issues. I'm seeing a consultant on Monday with a view to sorting it out permanently ASAP, so all good! This all comes at the end of an 26 date tour at the age of 75 - playing to amazing audiences - many of whom have grown old with me. The response has been phenomenal, with a number of sell-out shows and standing ovations most nights. Thanks so much for your support in the last 50 years. We have just 4 shows left to play, including London's Camden Town on Thursday and a wild tour-end party at legendary Dorset venue The Exchange, in Sturminster Newton Do come and join us if you can!
