Well, pretty much so 😏. Truth is, so far most food producers follow the "old" rule because they produce stuff also for EU or NI markets. My wife's fresh salad and veg factory does it, exports to Iceland and Norway but also local Sainsburys and Waitrose.

Country of origin (food) regulation is EU directive No. 1169/2011. After Brexit UK had an agreement with the EU that it follows the rule only with products for the EU and NI market. The British market is under discretion/will of local suppliers. If it's a British market it's not mandatory.

You won't know if the product is American or British. Due to Brexit, in 2022, UK dropped "product origin" regulations as not mandatory.
