Musicians! To celebrate my 13th year(!) as a full-time mastering engineer I threw together this playlist of some of the stuff I've mastered. Here's to the next 13 years - I'm way cheaper than Abbey Road but better at mastering. Hit me up

That will make it funnier tbh, as with Truss. Less so Johnson because he mostly succeeded on his own terms

The amount of hair I have on the top of my head (i.e almost none) has reached truly insane proportions. I think I might be the baldest man alive

Genuinely pathetic to get excited and look at tracking updates for a fucking lamp

Anyone got a SAD lamp they'd recommend? Ideally one that's dimmable and can change colour temperature for the evening (but nothing that needs an app to control it)

I always wonder if they fuck other organisations around as much as they fuck sole traders around, or if they have some kind of agreement to only do it to the little guys

Some truths are universal

Funny how the organisations with loads of money always seem to have trouble paying invoices and individuals with very little money just... pay them

American politicians shouldn't be named after trading card games imo

I'm not going to hand it to MTG for a post where the most important thing for her is to stress how much she hates "illegals"

They’d string you up by a tree if you tried to tell your ’jokes’ in Gaul, I’ll tell you that much

Wakefield Waterstones only had one copy of Shadow Ticket (now they have none). Very upsetting

Do you have a favourite performance so far?
tomwoodhead.bsky.social
I do have experience of them and they can definitely work for me (at least a little), I just need to buy a new one for my bedroom
tomwoodhead.bsky.social
Thank you, this looks great. I was beginning to think there was nothing out there!

Is this about the new Pynchon?

'What's yer gut saying? Wanna turn the volume down?'
tomwoodhead.bsky.social
Although I have a half-baked theory that there is a big Brit/Yank divide in which Pynchon novels people prefer; Vineland feels very American

Very few moments that took my breath away, and the screwball stuff felt bolted-on in a way it hasn't in any of his other novels (maybe Against The Day at times)

If it helps, I read it for the first time a couple of years ago and found it weirdly listless. Still enjoyed it, I mean, he's a great writer, but it felt like the work of a man who'd been drained dry by Gravity's Rainbow.

They've been alternating male/female for quite a few years now, right?

William T. Vollmann would be a deserving American choice, and would result in a lot of Discourse

Those guys (the Nobel lot) are way too into themselves to risk giving it to someone who refuses to acknowledge it

If only someone could have forseen that a Leonardo DiCaprio film coinciding with the author's first novel in 12 years might might drive sales

They don’t seem to have any shame about it at all

Solo pint and William T. Vollmann in Windermere on a Saturday afternoon, baybeeeee
The inside of a lovely traditional pub William T. Vollmann’ Emma The Ice Shirt and a foaming pint of Helles Lager

Of course most adults have a mobile phone; but not having one should be an option
