I guess I’m thinking before gloves and stickum. The Paul Warfield, Otis Taylor, lynn swan era.
I guess my point is you have to reconsider the greatness of one handed catches today when you see players wearing sticky gloves and I guess stickum.

But Fred was an outlier.
Most players in that period found stickem counterproductive.
The sticky gloves these days do provide an advantage.
But I hear you.
I loved Fred, and that era, the Snake, Blanda, plunket… Long, Upshaw, Otto..
No longer an NFL fan.
Oligarchy ownership ruined it for me.

Please note, these one handed catches happen because the gloves these players wear are incredibly sticky.
Players of yesteryear caught balls with bare hands.
Good catch yes, but thanks to the Velcro effect.

Don’t forget the golden rule.
Not the do unto others…
But the American oligarchy golden rule.. HE who has the gold rules.
