Western Alaska gets slammed with storms like this pretty much every year, but this is an exceptionally bad one.

I believe Kotz was affected by Merbok 2 years ago as were most coastal towns/villages. 😦

Kotzebue residents are under a mandatory evacuation due to an oncoming storm surge. Residents who believe they are safe in home are asked to stay in place, but many are being asked to move to higher ground/more inland. Residents needing help evacuating need to call the KPD dispatch. #Alaska #AKLife

My dad was a Navy Corpsman assigned to the Marines towards the end of Vietnam, he was there for the clean up. There was nothing easy.

But I would guess that Mr. President would have drummed dad out of the military for aiding the women and children of Vietnam marred by war.

Whenever I'm in Seward, this sign feels like a warm hug. the trail to the left is the dog team trail, the road straight ahead goes to Shirley and Dan's homestead. Always so welcoming.
