Very much enjoyed reading a thread on Reddit called something like 'when was the last time you got into a fight, and why'. Filled to the brim with middle-aged men saying things like "I wouldn't say I'm hard, but...", "I knocked him spark out" and "to be honest I was just glad he was alright".

THIS is what someone in my family deemed a suitable amount of chocolate brownie to leave and return to the cupboard. My wife has previous for this but I reckon it was my son, since finishing it all would have triggered the 'YOU MUST NOW WASH THIS UP' rule.

Someone's tried to call me three times today. Instead of leaving a message to tell me what they want, they've left me messages detailing how much they hate leaving messages, that they won't tell me what they want in a message and bollocking me for not picking up. NO. THANKS.

My sister has just reminded that on this day in 1985 (my tenth birthday), we went to see Ghostbusters. Anyway this is roughly the face I made when I realised that that was 41 YEARS AGO. (Minus the cigarette, proton pack and ecto goggles, of course.)

Just found the episode of Crimewatch that covered an armed robbery & shooting directly below the student flat I lived in on Eccleshall Road in 1995. Broken glass, screaming, gunfire, sirens and so on. Quite a bit deal. So naturally we were upstairs smoking weed and watching Gladiators, heard nowt.

Rather enjoying watching Reform shoot itself in the foot over and over again. Braverman! Hilarious.

In July it'll be 20 years since the final edition of Top of the Pops. 20 years!

If The Guardian ever asks me to do one of those 'hill that I will die on' things, my particular hill will be that the Konix Navigator is the greatest joystick ever made and that's just bloody that. (Would be quite a short piece.)

Thoroughly enjoyed this! I wonder if Stewart Lee has taken inspiration from Fatboy Slim's mission to play on every single stage at Glastonbury, by appearing on every single podcast in existence.

There's an article about the film 'Heat' in the Guardian. It's a decent film I suppose, but there is a type of man that says his favourite film is Heat/Goodfellas/Casino and has a flag and the legend 'I love my kids' in his social media profiles. A twat, in other words.

Welcome to the award for 'Best Opening Lines in a Song'. The nominees are:
"Only the very young and the very beautiful can be so aloof"
"Standing in the door of the Pink Flamingo crying in the rain"
"There was one in the gang who had Scalextric and because of that he thought he was better than you"

Always enjoy a video that doesn't follow my assumptions. I very much doubt you'd have had similar responses to this question if you'd asked it in any British city in 1961.

Finished this tonight. Sarah Snook very good, obviously. But bloody hell. Overlong, blindingly obvious, subplots that go nowhere, characters seemingly immune to the trauma of killing people and seeing people get killed in front of them, I could go on. Complete arse.

Has one of his wife's horses kicked him in the head?

Watched Withnail and I for the first time last night. It was good. A silly, mostly enjoyable film that made me laugh a couple of times. Fairly obvious why it was popular with students when I was one (ie. Ralph Brown). Don't know if I'd say it was one of the 'great' British films, but I liked it.

It's feeling a bit 'pub telly on in the background in Threads' today.

Daughter is currently in an extremely swanky office in central London taking part in an interview for her placement next year. I don't think I've ever been this nervous about anything in my life.

It turns out this wasn't some sort of fever dream I had when I was 14. They actually DID exist.

Attempting to watch this latest series of Stranger Things, it's become abundantly clear that the only thing I ever liked about it was watching it with my children, when they were children.

Ran a pub quiz the other night. A man argued with me that Pat Roach wasn't the only actor except H. Ford to appear in the first three Indiana Jones films. "Denholm Elliott", said he. Oh so DE was in Temple Of Doom then? Which bit? The Shanghai opening? Pankot Palace? THE FUCKING ROPE BRIDGE? TWAT.

My wife was video calling my poorly daughter at university today. She was meant to be going to London to visit a friend this weekend but didn't feel up to it. As I was walking past I shouted "JUST COME HOME, I'M COOKING A CURRY", and she did! SO I WIN AGAIN.

Oof. Came across this tonight. No one has ever asked me to do a list of my top ten favourite books, but if I did, this would be in it. "There's a great awful bird in the fridge!"

So are we to believe that George's previous fling in Last Christmas actually doesn't recognise him? A year isn't that long. It only leaves two possibilities: either she was blind drunk the year before or she's been kicked in the head by a horse in the interim. Sadly we are not told.

A mate reminded me today of something I used to say to people at school if they looked a bit miserable. It was: "tweak your willy, sailor?". I have no recollection of this at all, but I like it a lot and intend to start using it immediately.
