I’m left of centre but open to sensible perspective.

I like family & friends and in no particular order, politics, travel, mountains, bonsai, suiseki, climbing, skiing, art and fun.

Suspect that Trump likes the idea of European turmoil. We are a significant competitive trading block - or at least we were before Brexit - and he likes to eliminate competitors. Russia isn’t a competitor to Trump who seems to think ‘my enemies enemy is my friend’.

And I strongly supported their initial action that increased their pay by an average of 29% but their current actions are, IMO, indefensible.

Are you confirming that you are a descendant of immigrants.

Torsten - as you say much of our infrastructure (water, rail, power) is ancient. Even 20th century development is dated & we must encourage (by tax relief) private firms to kick start investment. Optimism fuels spending. You must nip budget accusations in the head. I wasn’t misled Reeves spoke truth

Had they not done so many foolish things I could have agreed with you. Commitment not to increase certain taxes for 5 years was a naive start and whilst the blocking of universal WFP was good, not sorting threshold first was barmy as was increase in NI when growth is needed!

I would imagine that she knows more than what is written down and the luxury incarceration just means she can’t remember anything.

Labour’s good principles must negotiate democratic reality.

The public, indeed the party, hold so many different and strongly held opinions that Labour is in danger of losing its small grasp on achieving anything worthy.

Internal conflict in a democratic UK simply leads to huge steps backward.

Certainly debatable but I agree that the defensive tone was unhelpful and I don’t think Tim Davie should have resigned - at least yet. I like your idea of ‘yes, mistakes made but thanks for keeping us honest!’

Not really. The programme seems to have captured the essence of Trump’s relationship with violent protesters quite well. It could have been done better but fact that there was almost an hour between elements of the words used by the program is not material, IMO, to the portrayal of part he played.

It represented the day and Trump’s part in it, but not in the best way!

The BBC should not apologise for creating a summary of events that captured the essence of Trump’s speech and the ensuing events. Trump should have to prove that this programme caused him harm long after he had caused harm to himself and to America.
