I’m not saying that your assessments are wrong. I’m saying that not acting with an extreme sense of urgency was wrong (regardless of whether or not it worked)

Maybe it’s because these are the people who I interact with on a daily basis — people who think of themselves as “sane” republicans. Even if it is ridiculous, the chances of changing minds was far more possible on 1/7 than 1/13. People didn’t yet have time to listen to a week of podcasts and FOX

This year, those same families are back to being full blown MAGA. By putting on a facade of fighting early, Dems could have capitalized on voter sentiment.
December 29, 2025 at 5:35 PM
You’re right, but most people are not policy wonks. I work with mostly wealthy republican families, and a sizable portion of them were disavowing MAGA after Jan 6. Their kids were coming to school talking about how disappointed and ashamed their parents were.

Thanks. I’m just over here trying to have discourse with someone who’s views I actually respect, but it’s cool if you’d rather take petty potshots
December 29, 2025 at 5:13 PM
As people have mentioned over and over, waiting for the Republicans to get over the initial shock and organize made no logical sense. You did not need to be a fortune teller to realize that at the time. Seize the damn moment when it arrives, not a week after

According to this clown, Musk and Trump have “supernatural lack of sleep abilities” — ie drugs and a social media addiction

I want him to suffer and be humiliated. I do get sad, though, watching the aging process take place. Like with McConnell, it reminds me of my own parents getting old and falling apart. Needless to say, fuck these losers I do hope they get run through the mud a few times before dying even if it’s sad

I work with middle schoolers every day. I teach them, coach them, advise them, spend all day in a classroom with them. They are NOT the problem. Kids today are no different than kids in the past.
December 4, 2025 at 4:09 PM
It means absolutely nothing but kids love it. My students don’t bat an eye if the answer is 69 but they lose their shit if it’s 67

I feel like all of this falls under “no shit” conclusions to anyone paying attention. It’s a good step, though, to read it from administration insiders.

I read it as an aside to an article promoting the idea of not putting candidates on pedestals … Quite an assumption, I never bought into his hype after his first fundraising text to me started with “nothing pisses me off more than candidates begging for money,” then he proceeds to beg me for money.

Allowing for politicians to (hypocritically or genuinely) pivot their actions in support of what the public wants is more important than being right.
October 27, 2025 at 4:24 PM
I guess no one here read the article. Dayen advocated for public pressure on lawmakers to adapt to public sentiment rather than searching for the perfect candidate. This was not a “vote for Platner because his stated ideology is more important than his nazi tattoo” piece.

And the damn white board lmao

Anger, billionaire hate, cursing, diversity, strong leadership symbolism sitting behind the desk, glasses perched where they should… Someone’s been working hard with the focus groups. Too bad it’s chuck fucking schumer

He’s has been on the correct side of history on nearly all issues from his days in the state assembly fighting for the Bay, to being a leading voice for a stronger recession stimulus in the House, to everything currently happening. He owns most his colleagues just by being an honest leader.

Being fired from (or quitting) the post 2024 WaPo is a sign that you stand for something.
September 15, 2025 at 3:18 PM
This is a dumb statement. Most people here have families, lives, jobs, neighbors. Do you just assume that anyone to the left of you is a woke, terminally online professor living on campus?

I feel like we, as a society, should be completely fine with his line of work being drastically less rewarded.
