Oh Australia does the opposite. International students get zero subsidies so their cost is north of $20k a semester. When my folks studied here in the 70s, it was free!

In Australia it’s heavily subsidized but still $5k a semester. However, it’s paid for through a student loan that’s paid down as a percentage of one’s salary before tax, and scales with what you earn. It took me about 8 years to pay mine, but I never really felt it.
