Looking for a nice trip location around Berlin: There are those open (private) Garden events in Berlin+Brandenburg every month. I was annoyed with their official website having no map+date filter, so I build this to help find a nice garden to visit: https://tordans.github.io/offene-gaerten-karte/

@anders raindrop.io is what I am using now. I used diigo.com for ages after del.icio.us. But had to switch last year because they just did not get their bugs resolved. Raindrop is great. Many other are doing Pinterest style visual stuff that’s not for me.

Off all the new NLnet Fundings (NGI0) only one is directly OSM related and off all the things that could be funded it had to be the one that from my point of view does not benefit the project at all but is either time spend unwisely or a future escalation waiting to happen: OSM-NG, a one person […]

There is some movement in the #OSM-Centerline-Processing space recently. This is one of the issues that we need to solve to make OSM data suitable for analysis and planning purposes, so it is great to see research and prototypes in this space. Dustin from osm2streets has this great list of […]

#Komoot made it easier to show drinking water POI and similar during route planning. They showcase this in their latest Newsletter. On their website, there is a section on how to add to #OpenStreetMap […]

Happy to see that my feedback introduce two small improvements to the #mapillary Docs this week. The Germany changelog was super old and is now gone to show the updated english version https://www.mapillary.com/release-notes?locale=de_DE. And the API docs submenu finally works even when using […]

Also, here are the docs on the Overture Maps Buildings Layer https://docs.overturemaps.org/guides/buildings/ which has a nice example showing different data sources in one place at https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=16/32.58952/-117.04515
Map of buildings, the color shows the source of the buildings.

#til: #chrome has a build in search to find an open tab at "Tab">"Search tab…" or CMD+Shift+A. I've been using https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/tab-organizer/gbaokejhnafeofbniplkljehipcekkbh for this for a while…

(2/2) I was confused because some other data in OSM was different from Overture next to that missing building. But it turns out, those buildings where changed only recently https://osmcha.org/changesets/154211890. The Overture Raw data show "source OSM" for those buildings […]

I think I understand it now: Facebook/Mapillary switched from the https://daylightmap.org/ buildings source to the Overture Maps Buildings source (which AFAIK is largely the same, but daylight is being migrated to Overture). The Overture Buildings Data do favor OSM over AI Data in general but […]

Today I learned that Mapillary/Facebook no longer uses the #OpenStreetMap Buildings in their OSM-based map, having switched to the Overture Buildings Dataset. Someone noticed this change in a place in Germany where the buildings differ between the maps.
OM Editor showing aerial imagery with the building that is not mapped. OSM Basemap with a missing building. Mapillary Basemap with a Building that is missing in OSM (but other buildings/parts missing here).

Inspired by the #sotmeu talk on Sentinel 2 I finally found a way improve the location of this factory in rural Ghana https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/10157516964
I am looking for new imagery to improve the location for 5 years now https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/817922065/history

I find myself revisiting a talk about #OpenStreetMap by Sarah Hoffmann from 2021. She shared two observations that I believe are worth noting here…
