"But while [ranked ballots] might be strictly non-partisan, it is decidedly pro-voter – and almost always produces a more positive, issue-focused campaign ... 96% [of survey respondants] said their ballot was easy to fill out."

Glad to see it, NYC!

A short primer on ranked choice voting, or ranked ballots from @britannica.com. Thanks for the shout-out of Canadian Conservative & Liberal Party leadership contests in this article!
Ranked choice voting was invented in the 1850s in Europe for multi-winner elections. In the 1870s, it was adapted to its current single-winner (or instant runoff) form.

Today, about 50 American voting jurisdictions have moved to a ranked choice system.

Well, this is exciting news! We love to see places taking next steps in implementing ranked ballots for their municipal elections. This time, it’s Boston! City Council says yes to voting reform, now it’s off to the State for approval. We wish them luck! www.governing.com/politics/bos...
Boston City Council Approves Ranked-Choice Voting
To take effect, the city would need a green light from state lawmakers. A statewide RCV measure failed in Massachusetts in 2020.

Enjoy voting by ranked ballot, federal Liberal Party members - there's still time in the leadership contest!

And then take a moment to sign our petition: if political parties can use ranked ballots to elect leaders, the rest of us should be able to, too.

We so admire everyone putting themselves forward to run, but wouldn’t it be great if they had a real mandate, not winning “by just a few votes”?

A ranked ballot could have given the next Don Valley West school trustee a true majority.

We deserve better elections.
