I think the F1 community to a collective sigh of relief when we knew he wasn’t going to finish last

I predicted this after Australia, they rode the ride height for the race due to plank wear concerns. Thought they proved me wrong after the sprint but oh boy did that reverse itself…

Saying George would be more likely to win the title this year than Max or Ferrari before testing would’ve gotten you publicly humiliated haha

Everyone saying ‘Perez wasn’t that bad after all’ is forgetting just how much closer everyone is this year. The actual gap to Max isn’t too different but the midfield is so much more competitive!

I don’t think these drivers exist anymore in the junior categories. I can’t remember the last time we saw a Valterri / Checo style driver emerge from F2? All the rookies are hungry, fast, and confident. If they want a true number 2 driver they should’ve gone for someone like Hulkenburg, not a rookie

I rate Yuki highly but I think we’d be having the same (albeit less extreme) conversation about Yuki if he was in the seat. The VCARB looks like a solid car also, the Red Bull of course but its operating window must be so specific to Max’s style for years now given how many drivers have struggled?

Should the fact Charles struggled to overtake in the sprint worry Ferrari given they’re now P5 and P6?

No reason why it *has* to be V10, I think most fans would prefer them though. Whether it’s a V8,10,or 12 shouldn’t be too much of a worry. Any of them would be amazing compared to what we have now…

I love the idea of bringing back V10s but the conversation around synthetic fuels needs to be had too if it’s going to happen. It would actually make sense if Formula 1 went down this path as well, given how many car manufacturers are turning away from going fully electric. It just makes sense!

Very true, It’ll also be interesting to see whether the tension within Red Bull grows at all if their car is truly 4th fastest - I can see the Jos vs Christian arguments repeating themselves if that were the case

It’ll be interesting to see if this changes at all in FP3 and teams opt for higher downforce setups with the rain on sunday

I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re ahead of Mercedes either at this stage

If this is true, other than Aston Martin what options would Max have if he wanted to leave Red Bull? It could create a weird situation for him if he wanted to leave…
