Who would’ve thought I’d be collaborating with a kid half my age making music like this. I was in a bit of a grumpy old man phase—disillusioned with yoga, music, community, pretty much everything. I had zero inspiration to DJ or produce. It felt like I didn’t have anything meaningful left in my life. Then, lo and behold, this young precocious kid moves in. I disliked him immediately. His puppy-dog energy was completely annoying—playing his guitar everywhere, singing at the top of his lungs, dancing around like he owned the place. It was definitely not love at first sight. But life has this habit of listening—bringing to my doorstep exactly what I’ve asked and am ready for. I clearly saw that something old was dying and something new was being born. As it turned out, he actually had great taste in music. My curiosity was sparked. I then came across a documentary about Stravinsky who, in his later years, many thought was past his prime. But a young conductor, Robert Craft, came into his life and introduced him to serial music which inspired a new creative phase which some feel are Stravinsky’s most unique compositions. Similarly, Brian Eno collaborated on an album with Fred Again… and admitted he learned so much from and was inspired by the younger producer’s creative process. Yes, I’m comparing myself to Stravinsky and Eno😂 but what I took as signs from the universe inspired me to open up to a new world of musical possibilities. And wouldn’t you know it, my love to hate him, hate to love him compadre, Jay, was right there singing and playing his guitar. So instead of being against him, I joined him. And just a few short years later, here we are, presenting our little baby EP to the world. Thank you Jay for being the Fool calling forth the Sage, encouraging the exploration of the space in-between as our creative playground. And much love to all my friends and fans who continue to inspire and support my musical endeavors. My heart overflows with gratitude🙏
